What is Reiki?

Reiki (ray-key) is a healing art in which the practitioner gently lays their hands on or above the client to increase positive life force energy.  Reiki was developed in 1922 by a Japanese Buddhist monk to improve health and well-being. When our life force is low, we are more prone to illness or stress. When our life force is high, we feel happier, healthier, and more relaxed.

Typically, a client receiving Reiki lays on the massage table fully clothed, though Reiki can also be integrated into massage therapy.

Literally translated Reiki  means vital spirit or soul energy.
